Has anyone seen the "PlayStation Plus" at the PS Store? I was looking it over and it offers full game trials, PS Store discounts, priority beta invites and more.

Some of the content I saw at the store with a little "+" symbol on the pic was a full download of InFamous trial (playable for 60 mins), a game discounted from $3.99 to $2.99 another game that is originally $3.99 offered for free and some other discounted items.

The cost to join PS+ is $50 for 1 year (plus 3 "bonus" months) or $18 for 3 months.

To me that seems a little pricey, but my wife thinks it might be worth it. From what they are offering thus far, I really don't think it is. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what other content they add to make a decision on whether to get it or not.

Is this Sony's answer to OnLive and other such offerings?

What does everyone else think?

I don't think that PS plus is a response to OnLive. I think its a campaign that will eventually develop into a service that offers players more benefits (like cross-game chat eventually). Considering that all of the PSN features are free to players, PS+ is Sony's attempt to provide added value to their free service and compete with XBOX Live subscriptions. I am subscribed to it and even though I have yet to really benefit from their free offers, I think that it will eventually develop into a promising service!

i agree somewhat with asgaroth

i see it as more of a "hey, we are late to the game of charging subscriptions... so here are a few deals to sweeten the pie..."

Im in australia, so our signup bonus is a digital copy of little big planet if we sign up for 12 months

as i already had a copy of lbp and my little brother didnt, i could give him my copy and keep the digital copy, so it kind of lessened the impact of paying for it... that and the 40 odd dollars in my psn wallet i hadnt touched in 8 months or so

personally, i think its a viable option, it has meant i logged in to do something other than use the ps3 as a media player, which is a bonus.

we dont have hulu plus here, or even hulu (unless you make a few edits to your firewall or use a proxy) so the hulu plus is a non event here

i find it to be good value in comparison to not paying for it and not using the ps3 or receiving some free content monthly, so for me it was a no brainer Smile

I've heard positive feedback from friends as well. I'm almost certain I'm going to subscribe now. I think I may wait just a bit longer too see what else is going to be offered (at the PSN Store), but I'm sure I'll be getting plus eventually.
